Left-to-right: FF Don Hopkins, Lt Brendan Walsh, Dep Cliff Richardson, and FF Mark Chaisson participated in the Firefighter Challenge of the Climb to the Top Boston event to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society on March 7.

Waltham had four firefighters finish in the overall top 10 for this event, including the first place award for the fastest overall firefighter, Firefighter Don Hopkins, who climbed to the top of the Prudential Tower in 14:52, nearly two minutes faster than the second place finisher!

Deputy Chief Richardson, the leader of our Climb to the Top group, raised $1,100 himself.

Multiple Sclerosis is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that can manifest in several different ways and effect individuals in widely different means. MS can affect both firefighters and their families, often placing them on light-duty or taking them away from their chosen career due to symptoms of the disease. We wanted to raise funds and awareness to create a world free of MS.
