The Waltham Fire Department took delivery of a new heavy rescue truck on Tuesday.
Three fire fighters (Captain Paul Quaranto, Lt. John Babstock and FF Greg Davis) were instrumental in putting together the specifications for the new truck, which took nearly a year to build.
Rescue 1 will replace Rescue 6 a much older truck. Rescue 1 is a larger style with a walk in interior so that firefighters can access multiple storage areas. It will also have more space to accommodate modern vehicle extrication equipment, metering systems, trench rescue and rappelling tools.
